We had the pleasure of speaking to MUZU.TV faves and up and coming Baddies recently, check out what these cheek Essex chappies had to say for themselves.
Tell us a little about how Baddies formed?
We formed in 2007, we were all in other bands that were falling apart, so decided to stich ourselves together and form Baddies.
What’s your vision for the band ?
Our vision is to be recoginised for what we do, for people to enjoy our music, watch our promos, read the lyrics and appreciate the artwork… what more can we expect?
What future plans, upcoming releases can we look forward to from Baddies?
Our second record ‘BUILD’ is released on 5th March and the single ‘Talk to me Germany’ will be released one week later. We hope to be announcing more live dates very soon.
Tell us five things we need to know about Baddies?
We live by the seaside
We are 2 parts twin
We have 8 legs
Are we not men? / We are not Devo
Apparently we sound like the Kaiser Chiefs and The Killers…. Hmmmmm
Any festivals confirmed for 2012 ? Do you prefer playing festivals or intimate clubs?
They are both very different animals… I love the intimacy of a club show but equally love the adrenelene of walking onto a big stage… ill take both!
We hope to be announce festival appearences very soon.
What are your backstage rider demands, pray tell us something outrageous?
When we are in Belgium we always request ‘Kwak’ to be on the rider… its a great beer… nothing outrageous im afraid, we save the outrage for the stage.
What have been your proudest moments so far?
Completing ‘BUILD’ and playing Reading festival as it’s the festival that I always attended when I was growing up.
Who do you think is Britain’s best up and coming talent?
I really like Django Django, I’m listening to them right now.
Your 5 favourite albums and how they have influenced your sound?
I love so many albums, unfortunatley I cant file them in ‘top 5 order’ but these are a few that come to mind…
The Queen is dead – The Smiths: The best vocal melodies
Drums and wires – XTC: Spikey Guitars, erratic vocals
Killing joke – Killing joke: Dark edge and power
London Calling – The Clash : Song writing and not frightened to sound ‘Cheesy’
Six – Mansun – Amazing piece of music as a whole
If you could be any Baddie in the world ever, really or not real, who would you be?
I’d probably be a traffic warden, at least that way I could get paid to be bad!
What is Baddies USP and why should I come see you?
What the f**k is a USP? Folk should come and see Baddies if they love the music… noone wants a crowd full of chin rubbers!
Oh well, thats us told huh? Check out Bronto below and be sure to watch out for these guys in the future, I for one can’t wait to see them live.
