Say Hello to Hollywood

You love movies? We love movies. You love music? You know we do to!

MUZU is launching a brand new competition called Soundtraxs, the world’s first global search for independent and emerging movie music talent. Winners will have their music featured in a film and earn revenue from the soundtrack.

We‘re looking for ten pieces of music to be featured in forthcoming British film, Relative Desire. The movie starts shooting in October, led by two-time BAFTA award-winning director Michael Baig Clifford, and starring Imogen Poots (28 Weeks Later) and Harry Treadaway (Control). Amazing!

We’ve uploaded a selection of animated storyboards from the film that are available for you to download and we’re challenging you to create a piece of music to accompany any of them. Once you’ve written the piece of music (the hard bit), you can then use software that’s already available on your computer (Windows Movie Maker, or iMovie) to sync your original soundtrack with any of the downloaded storyboards. Then upload your entry to MUZU for all and sundry to watch.

To help see the wood from the trees, we’ll soon be launching the Buzz Chart, a very clever way of ranking all the entries we receive. The Buzz Chart will monitor each entry for the number of views it gets on MUZU, including any ratings and comments made, views on Facebook and tweets on Twitter, to decide on its chart rank. So the more promo you do for your entry, the higher up the chart it could go.

At the end of the competition, the top fifty entries in the chart will be shortlisted and judged by an expert panel of film and music buffs, then ten of those will be selected to appear in the film and on the soundtrack. Winners will get to re-record their track in a professional studio, get paid for usage of their track in the film, plus earn revenue from sales of the soundtrack.

Fancy yourself as a movie music creator? Start composing and upload your entry. Want to play a part in deciding who wins? Watch and rate the current entries and keep checking back over the coming weeks for more.

Visit our Soundtraxs page now and get involved.
